...knowing how to drive the old-fashioned way.
They didn't know how to drive a stick shift.
"They apparently couldn't start it," Bean said. "I had to tell him four
different times to push in the clutch, because it's a standard
transmission."
My 3 older kids don't know how to drive, but they know you have to push in the clutch to start their dad's car.
I had thought we'd never buy another manual transmission again, but maybe we will. Just wondering if insurance companies will start offering anti-theft discounts for it.

Too funny! My daughter wants to learn to drive a standard. She'll have to learn from her dad, because I never did master that trick. I could do first gear and reverse--enough to move his car, when he still had a standard car.
Why we take Dad's car to malls & other places where theft is a concern....
Haha..My hubby's car is a 6 speed and I was thrilled when he got it last year. I said now we'll have a vehicle to teach the kids how to drive a manual. I think it's one of those things you need to learn when young and you'll never forget, like swimming or riding a bike. I still remember learning how to drive one when I was in high school and my mom got a little red convertible...talk about incentive! Lots of good stories of learning how to drive that thing.
Both of our cars are manual transmissions - in fact, that is one of the requirements when we buy a new car.
Therefore, my kids will be able to steal whatever they want :) No seriously, they have both learned sticks.
